This is the first Kimono that I made and it brings me such joy to look at it. It is a 20% silk/polyester taffeta that gives it a more structured look and a luxurious rustle when you move. In some ways I feel it almost looks more Japanese because of that.
This is named after my gorgeous sister Fifi who spent a few years living and teaching in Japan. Visiting her in that magnificent country inspired my love and appreciation of kimonos.
One size, 66cm wide
All my kimonos are handmade by me in my studio in Blackrock, Dublin, Ireland. Whilst these are not Japanese kimonos, they are made using some traditional Japanese techniques, with the body of the kimono cut from one piece of fabric.
This creates a very unique fit because there are no shoulder seams. One size fits all - just put it on and you instantly feel ready for anything.
A kimono is such a versatile garment. You can glam up, wear it to throw on after your yoga class, use it for holidays - beach to bar - or just having some me-time around the house. They all come with belts which are a generous length and are stiffened so that they sit beautifully and don't sag (a pet hate of mine!)
A kimono also makes a fabulous gift. You don't have to worry about size or fit or what someone might use it for because there's no limit to how you wear one.
All my handmade kimonos are limited edition - no more than 5 will be made of any fabric and some will be one-of-a-kind depending on the amount of fabric I source.
A true couture item to be loved, worn and cared for.
